In this one-woman play, international mezzo soprano Linn Maxwell embodies the extraordinary life of twelfth-century German prophetess, healer, and composer Hildegard of Bingen, who was canonized in 2012 and named a Doctor of the Church. Centuries ahead of her time, Hildegard challenged the established authorities of her day both philosophically and musically. Accompanying herself on authentic medieval instruments, including psaltery, organistrum, and harp, Linn performs seven of Hildegard's original songs. Through the mystic's actual writings and letters, she transports us to the turbulent times of the crusades. Hildegard's timeless message of spiritual truth, holistic healing, and caring for the earth is even more urgent today than ever before.
